Styling a Scene ~ In-Person Studio Workshop

£125.00

Saturday 18th April 2026, 10:00 – 16:30

Since starting my business thirteen years ago, the visual has always been a core part of my work. In this time, I have sold vintage clothing, curated homewares, hand selected gift hampers and artisanal food products, alongside my own artworks, illustrations and handmade pieces, and the styling has always been as important as the product itself.

Telling the visual story of these pieces through styling and photography is a pivotal part of my work, deeply entwined with every element of my business. It is part of my practice as an artist, I find the process fascinating and exciting.

My styling for photos has featured in print for 91 magazine, Heiter magazine, Table magazine alongside my work styling spaces for retreats, weddings, pop-ups and private functions.

In this workshop I will share everything I have learned over the past thirteen years when it comes to styling vignettes for photos. This will include:

  • Clarifying your visual language.
  • Creating a cohesive visual code.
  • Weaving who you are and what you love into your own visual stories.
  • The dynamics of placement for photography.
  • A study on texture, shape and colour.
  • Lighting.
  • Simple key elements to keep in mind when taking photos.

This workshop is for you if you tick any of the following boxes:

  • You’re a creative/small business doing your own product styling and photography and looking to develop your skills.
  • You love photographing vignettes and would like to learn more about assembling a still life.
  • You are interested in styling techniques and the dynamics of telling a visual story.
  • You would like the opportunity to pick my brains when it comes to assembling a scene for a photo and then experimenting immediately, then and there, with my guidance.

For more examples of my work, take a look at my Insta and Substack.

Important note: This is not a photography workshop. We will use our camera phones for reference and framing a scene, and I will show you small tricks or guidelines I use, but if you are looking for a workshop where you will specialise in learning about photography, I would point you in the direction of Laura Adams – Lens Eleven. She’s amazing and offers online courses for both beginner and more advanced photographers with DSLR’s.

There will be hot drinks and freshly baked treats (vegan) to keep our energy levels lifted. We will have a thirty minute lunch break at 1pm, so please bring a packed lunch (there is also a coop next door to pick anything up).

This workshop is limited to five spaces to ensure I can give all participants as much attention and focus as possible on the day.
