Java is an artist, stylist, writer and collector of stories.
With a Celtic heritage, she was born in London and grew up between England, Scotland, France and Spain, where she often assisted her mother, a professional artist and interior designer, before returning to the UK as a young adult to study acting at the Arden School of Theatre, Manchester, from where she graduated with a First Class Honours Degree.
In 2017 Java started establishing her practice as a home stylist, writer and illustrator.
In 2021, she created ‘On the Irregular’, a podcast where she speaks to women from varied backgrounds about their irregular creative journeys.
In 2022 she was awarded funding from Arts Council England to produce and host a live panel event with an audience, discussing the conversations that are shared on the podcast.
She is an experienced workshop facilitator, having facilitated styling, theatre, visual art and creative workshops.
Her more recent work centres on the concept of home, ritual and celebration of the everyday. She is currently exhibiting a selection of her illustration work in Coin, Hebden Bridge.
As a writer, Java has had pieces published in several publications, including Heiter magazine, Table magazine and 91 Magazine, and avidly shares her thoughts and ideas to her Substack following of monthly subscribers.
Previous to her life as an artist and writer, Java worked as an actor in theatre, as well as spending several years working as an agent in theatre and TV.
