I am fascinated by domestic rituals, the extraordinary within the everyday, and how creative expression can be found in small, often overlooked moments and objects.
These themes are central to my practice as both an artist and workshop leader, with much of my work exploring ideas of home, life around the kitchen table, and the non-linear paths of creativity.

Two workshops I offer & how you can work with me:
I.
Playful Drawing and Mark-making Workshop - inspired by the everyday creativity of the kitchen.
Using everyday ingredients and objects found on our tables as both tools and inspiration, this workshop invites you to explore still life through texture, line, and playful mark making — celebrating the beauty of the everyday and the joy of creating.
Taking the kitchen table and a curated arrangement of objects and ingredients as your still life, you’ll be encouraged to experiment freely with different materials and tools to create your own expressive responses to what you see and feel. This session is all about creative play, not about being ‘good’ at drawing. All levels welcome.
Playful Table Styling Workshop - inspired by my workshop 'Tell the Story of Your Home'.
In this workshop we will explore how to weave our own unique story into the way you dress a table to celebrate with loved ones.
Using a selection of seasonal foliage, food props and vintage pieces we will experiment with creating a table scape that feels both personal and aesthetically pleasing.
We will discuss the nature of gatherings, what we hope to achieve when we lay a table for a special occasion and what we would like others to feel when they pull up a chair and join us for a meal.
In this workshop we explore themes, narrative, balance, colour, levels and how to unlock our own unique style when approaching our canvas: the table.
"Java's workshop inspired me to look at styling our table in a new way, which has made hosting parties so much more fun!"
